Supposed to be part of comic I'm doing. But some other idea pops up and so the plot outline* had to be rewritten and this particular page had to be scrapped.
Look of the character inspired by some doodles of Motown singers. *Plot's not really the right word, since it's more of a stream-of-conscious piece. **re-posted because the colours came out slightly altered after uploading. Memories fade in time like tears in the rain
After drawing the pic in pencils I used acrylic paint to add texture on certain areas where I felt required a certain type of random organic texture that I don't think photoshop could really offer.
When I'm finished with that process I'd move on to photoshop and give specific sections that unnatural photoshop look (making certain areas glow, increasing contrast etc.etc.).
It's that contrasting traditional media vs. digital look that I'm going for (and have been trying to get right since my first coloured piece on deviantart).
It's a process that takes ages but one that I enjoy a lot.
